Dr. Megan Dunn

Hi, I'm Megan. I'm a licensed psychologist in California (PSY39752) specializing in evidence-based therapy for anxiety, stress, insomnia, burnout, chronic pain, health-related concerns, and life transitions.

I earned my PhD in Clinical Psychology from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, completed my internship at the VA Los Angeles Ambulatory Care Center, and went on to advanced clinical training at the San Francisco VA Medical Center. I also received specialized training through the University of Chicago Medicine. My training focused heavily on integrated behavioral health and working collaboratively within medical settings to support both mental and physical wellbeing.

My style is warm, supportive, and straightforward. I emphasize helping clients better understand the patterns that may be keeping them stuck, while building tools that feel realistic and sustainable in everyday life.

All sessions are conducted securely via telehealth for adults residing in California. I am a private-pay provider and can provide superbills for potential out-of-network reimbursement.

Why therapy

Why I do this work.

I became a psychologist because I'm genuinely curious about why people get stuck — and because I find it meaningful to help them get unstuck. That sounds simple, but it's what keeps the work interesting after years in the field.

What drew me specifically to integrated behavioral health was the recognition that mental and physical health aren't separate systems. Stress shows up as pain. Anxiety disrupts sleep. Chronic illness changes how people feel about themselves. I wanted to work at that intersection, not around it.

I care about doing this work well — which means staying current with the research, being honest with clients about what we know, and never losing sight of the person behind the presenting problem.

Approach

How I work.

My approach is collaborative, practical, and goal-oriented. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness-based approaches, and other evidence-based treatments to help clients develop effective coping strategies, improve daily functioning, and create meaningful, lasting change.

My style is warm, supportive, and straightforward. I put an emphasis on helping you better understand the patterns that may be keeping you stuck, while building tools that feel realistic and sustainable in everyday life — not just in session.

A little more

Outside of sessions, I try to practice what I help clients work toward — rest, boundaries, and not taking everything too seriously. I bring that same balance into my work.
