Insurance
About insurance.
I am a private-pay practice and do not bill insurance directly. This is a deliberate choice — it means your care is never shaped by what an insurance company will or won't authorize.
That said, you may still be able to use your insurance benefits. If you have out-of-network mental health benefits, I can provide a superbill — an itemized receipt with the codes your insurer needs — which you can submit for potential reimbursement.
Reimbursement rates vary significantly by plan. Before we begin, I'd encourage you to call your insurer and ask about your out-of-network outpatient mental health benefits and deductible.
Cancellation policy
Cancellations & rescheduling.
I ask for at least 48 business hours' notice to cancel or reschedule.
Late cancellations and no-shows are charged the full session fee, as that time was held for you and can't easily be filled on short notice.
Life happens. If something unexpected comes up, please reach out as soon as you can — I'll do my best to work with you.
Your rights
Good Faith Estimate.
Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a written Good Faith Estimate of the expected cost of services before beginning treatment.
I will provide one before your first session. It's an estimate — actual costs may vary if your needs or frequency change.

Questions
Questions about fees & insurance.
What does 'out-of-network' mean, and how does a superbill help?+
Out-of-network means I don't have a contract with your insurance company. A superbill is an itemized receipt with the diagnostic and billing codes your insurance needs. You pay me directly, then submit the superbill to your insurer. If you have out-of-network benefits, they may reimburse you a portion of the fee — how much depends on your plan. I'd encourage you to call your insurer before we begin to ask about your out-of-network outpatient mental health benefits.
How do I find out if I have out-of-network benefits?+
Call the member services number on the back of your insurance card and ask: 'Do I have out-of-network outpatient mental health benefits?' and 'What is my out-of-network deductible and reimbursement rate?' It's worth the call — some plans cover a meaningful portion.
What is a Good Faith Estimate?+
Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges before starting services. I'll provide one before your first session. It's an estimate, not a contract — the actual cost may vary if your needs change.
What forms of payment do you accept?+
Payment is due at the time of service. I accept all major credit and debit cards, HSA/FSA cards, and bank transfer. Details will be in the intake paperwork.
What is your cancellation policy?+
I ask for at least 48 business hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations and no-shows are charged the full session fee, as that time was held for you. I understand emergencies happen — if something unexpected comes up, reach out as soon as you can.
Is therapy tax-deductible?+
Therapy may qualify as a medical expense deduction if your total medical expenses exceed 7.5% of your adjusted gross income. HSA and FSA funds can typically be used for therapy. I'd encourage you to consult a tax professional for your specific situation.
